About Us

Mewsic - A Brett Lee Foundation was established in 2011. The Foundation aims to see every child in India experience and benefit from the joy and power of music.

The Foundation operates along three verticals;

Music to Heal
One of our Music Therapy  students in action.
Through a collaborative partnership with the Music Therapy Trust, Mewsic - A Brett Lee Foundation is pioneering Music Therapy in India. We have established an academy to train clinical music therapists and are working to introduce music therapy as an integral tool in healing the physical, mental and emotional wounds of marginalised children. We are also working to facilitate the placement of music therapists into hospitals in India to work in Oncology and Paediatric wards.

Music to Educate
Working in conjunction with India's leading education NGO - Pratham, Mewsic - A Brett Lee Foundation has established a number of music centres where children can learn guitar, keyboard, tabula and flute, and, foster relationships through the formation of music groups. With centres established in Mumbai (at Govandi, Mankhurd & Dharavi), Lucknow and Hyderabad, and, with some 500 children participating in the programs over the last 12 months, that journey is well underway.

Our newest project is to deliver non formal education to slum children in Jaipur and Delhi through our 'Mewsic Bus' program, which, includes a specially designed curriculum to teach children difficult subjects like Math and English through music and song.

Music to Empower
Working in partnership with MusoMagic, Mewsic - A Brett Lee Foundation facilitates song writing workshops - empowering children through the creation of, and choregraphing of, their own music video. This empowering 3 week residency provides an opportunity for self-expression and building self-esteem in a safe & nurturing environment.

The smile says it all!
Mewsic is also to work with children who are in conflict with the law through the innovative Drumbeat program, where, using the drum as an analogy to life, the children learn about positive and negative relationships, behaviours and decision-making to help them get back on track in life.

Why Music?
It's a question we've often been asked! Research has shown that children become more confident after participating in a formal music program. The music stimulates the brain and their retention of information is far greater. They do better at school, they feel good about themselves and they feel good about life. All of which helps them in moving forward and reaching their full potential.

Brett Lee's passion is to ignite a love for music in the children of India, to see the marginalised youth of India improve their language and communication skills, their self-expression and self-esteem - opening their hearts and minds to the opportunities many of us take for granted, all through Mewsic.
